چکیده
Abstract The histological distinction between acute and chronic liver injury is a challenging aspect of histopathology. It traditionally based on the interpretation morphological changes to extracellular matrix (ECM) at sites hepatocyte loss using histochemical stains. Our aim was investigate whether immunohistochemistry multiplexing for collagen type (I & III) elastic fibres modified Victoria blue method could be helpful. We studied 43 livers removed transplantation failure (ALF, 20 cases) or cirrhosis (23) plus 8 normal controls. In ALF periportal ECM in 2 cases, contained mainly I associated with ductular reaction 6 delicate strands 11 cases. Periportal deposition mature observed cirrhosis. perisinusoidal intact 4 collapsed condensed but composition (predominantly containing mostly 17 cases (7 including immature strands). contrast, bridging fibrous septa abundant 1 bundles elastin. propose use scale additional stains characterise injury.

p21 in chronic and acute liver injury
p21 historically has been considered a tumor suppressor since first studies showed that p21-/-mice display spontaneous tumor formation after 16 months and additionally these mice are more sensitive to chemically induced carcinogenesis [1,2]. On the contrary, recently a potential function as an oncogene has been described for p21. For instance mice deficient for p53 spontaneously develop multipl...
متن کاملKinetic alterations of collagen and elastic fibres and their association with cardiac function in acute myocardial infarction
The present study aimed to investigate kinetic alterations of collagen and elastic fibres and their association with cardiac function in the acute myocardial infarction (AMI) heart. AMI was generated in Sprague-Dawley rats by ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery. Cardiac function was determined using B‑ultrasonography, AMI was verified using histopathology. The kinetics of c...

PROCOLLAGEN-COLLAGEN CONVERSION The first extracellular step after secretion is the proteolytic cleavage of these Nand C-terminal nonhelical regions of procollagen (Bornstein, 1974). The actual location of cleavage of these extension peptides is not known, but they are probably removed during the formation of the fibre and may take part in fibrogenesis. The intermediates in the conversion of pr...
متن کاملDapagliflozin-Induced Acute-on-Chronic Liver Injury
Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors are a new class of oral hypoglycemic agents, and thus safety data are limited. We present a 48-year-old woman with type 2 diabetes mellitus and Child's Class A cirrhosis secondary to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis presenting with jaundice and acute cholestatic liver injury. Other than starting dapagliflozin, she reported no medication changes or supplemen...
